This is free
But that isn't the free I'm refering to.
What I'm talking about are the things we can get without needing to pay for them.
Problem. There isn't anything readily available that we can get, which is free.
It seems that everything carries some kind of price, wether literal ( financial cost) or percieved (emotional and mental)
Even the air we breathe, carries a price. How?
Consider the fact that if you're a vagrant, you'll eventually be told to move on or be arrested. That's an eventual cost to the state.
Even if you somehow manage to live in a field or forest, you'll need some sort of sustenance (food) and cleansing system. All of this will involve some kind of transaction based cost. A man or woman cannot survive on nuts and berries alone.
So what is there, that is free?
Your thoughts, feelings and the viewpoint or stance you take at any given moment in time. They're yours and cost nothing. And can still cost you nothing if you chose to express them.
Provided of course, that you have the courage to express them to as close to the original ideas, thoughts or feelings that you had, without going out of your way to offend all and sundry. Not always easy, but it's doable. And it's our inner filters that are the sieves, walls and gatekeepers that can be a benefit and a hazard at that point.
These inner filters are the result of our past accumulating into walls and barriers that can stifle our expression and our creativity. But they can also prevent us from going headfirst into trouble without thinking things through. It's all about balance.
Ultimately, it takes courage to be yourself, because it may mean your voice is different from everyone else's. That can be good or bad, depending on how your message is recieved.
If it's from a good place, it will make a difference. It may take longer than you expect, but there will be an impact because you've spoken from your heart, metaphorically speaking, more than from your mind. And the heart is a purer vessel than the mind, which can be encumbered with more junk than a landfill.
If it's not from a good place, the impact can be faster, but the results won't make anyone feel better, smarter or happier. And these days, with social media and the faster reach of the internet, it'll be exposed, burned up and turned to ash quicker than you can say 'game over'
So keeping it free, is retaining your power to express yourself in a clean and lean way. You can say what you want, without laying the ground around you to waste.
Then you'll pave the way for others to do the same.
It's simple, yet complex at the same time.
But practice makes perfect.
